Start with information
A consistent legal name, address and business details help organize records and profiles. Review the information shown in each file. An EIN or D-U-N-S identifies; it does not represent credit approval.
Evaluate usefulness and reporting
Before opening an account, understand cost, terms and whether it reports, to whom and under what conditions. Do not assume all Net-30 products report or buy unnecessary items to create history.
Consider the owner
Some creditors review personal credit, revenue or guarantees. Separating operations and developing business history does not automatically eliminate the owner’s liability.
Build a routine
Organize due dates and payments, keep statements and assess repayment ability before seeking more. Management quality matters more than application count.
